HISTORY

The “Posse 100” was established in February of 2013 as a division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Mounted
Posse in Kansas City, MO.  Captain Mark Alford suggested we replicate the “100 Club” of Houston, Texas,
where he grew up, and saw first-hand, the positive impact of such an organization.

While the Mounted Posse supports the office of the Sheriff and does many good charitable works,
membership is dependent upon access to a horse and trailer for search and rescue, parades, and other
events.  A vision emerged to create an organization in which EVERYONE in the community could be
involved, supporting law enforcement, first responders, and their families.

Under the direction of the Jackson County Sheriff, the “Posse 100” was initiated through amendments to the by-laws of the Mounted Posse, to operate under its direction and 501(c)3 status.
